blog chapter 10

they now where phine is and they would not see him for a wile and they wanted to know where they could find him and that they would not be able to see him

chapter 9 blog

they foud out leper left the army and they did not know where they went to see where he is all he said was at his vaction home

three reasons paragraph

1 gene is a good friend because he helpt phineas by going by doing the sports for him.

2. gene tried to make phineas to make him feel is if nothing was rong

3. even though phineas was hert he helpt gene with sports

Chapter 9

Chapter 9 so far was the most interesting to me. I have to disagree with Nick. I think that Leper was smart in the way he looked at the video. Leper was smart because he would have been made to go into the military whether or not he got the chance to choose what he wanted to do. This way he got to incorporate something he enjoys doing with something he would rather not do. Finny and Gene are being unrealistic I think, about the whole Olympics training thing. Knowing what I know (which they didn't then) there would not be an olympics in 1944. But the training will be handy when they have to go into the second world war. I cannot wait to read chapter 10 to figure out whether or not Finny decides to enlist into the world war. Well until then I will have to be patient I guess. :)

Chapter 9

I feel that leaper was wrong about the rucruiting video because he thought that the troops were really skiing in the training camp and when leaper escaped from the camp.

three reasons

1.)he dident come out and tell finny streight out that the was the one that made the branch move
2.)He liesd when brinker came into the dorm to ask finny was coming gene to enlist and lied to finny.
3.) when finny fell uot of the tree gene poot on his cloths and acted like finny

why Gene Is a good friend

1. Gene is a good friend because he said the he will do sports for Finny.
2. Gene is a good friend because he helps Finny accept that he couldn't play sports any more because of his leg being broken.
3. He kept Finny for his roomate because he is the only one that Gene can talk openly to.

chapter six

Chapter six was kinda slow and i was hard to follow.but i have relised that gen dosent do allot of stuff without finny. He dosent really go off where they arnt supposed to since finny broke his legs. when gene got back to school he noticed that he had the room all to hiself. and thats when people started saying that he chose finny as a roommate because they knew that finny wasent coming back. three reasons that gene is a bad friend
he dident tell finny straight out that he was 1.the one that moved the branch.
2. he thought that he was compition with him like in sports and school work.
3. he dident want to go and see finny and stared to flip put on the doctor.

chapter 9

Okay this chapter is actually not as bad as the others. It makes me sad in the beginning to know Leper is going off to war, the book makes it sound he's too immature for it, but that's just my opinion. The Winter Carnival that I think Phineas wanted to do was actually cool. Getting out and doing things helps when your stuck in class or inside all day because it's winter. Another thing I'd like to mention is that Phineas is that he seems scared of things well like he ignores bad things, like examples, the war and bad weather.. Finny, I noticed when they were in the "butt room" joking about Leper he wasn't a part of that. At the end of the chapter theres always a turning point and this one was that Leper escaped and his real name is Edwin.

Chapter six and everything else i missed.

Okayy, soo i feel really bad that i havnt exactially been "on time" with my blogs. And i know there is no excuse for my lazyness. But anyways. In Chapter six; it was kind of dull to me, it was pretty redundant. Like him saying the same things over and over again, and just repeating what he said in previous chapters. kind of like emphasising the most important part in the beggining of the chapter.. And its still kind of hard to understand what Finny's real personality is. he seems to be all over the place.. like one of thoose people that just seem, way to good to be true, and then the second you start to think you know them, they change in an instant. Its pretty insane. If i had a firned like that, it would be pretty hard to keep up. But then again, i cant keep frineds close for the life of me, and if someone like this came my way, i woudl try to keep him as close to me in my life as possible.
I also have my three reasons why Gene is a good frined.. well soo far inthe book/ novle.

1.) Gene is almost going all out for this guy. Its like he's putting his life on hold to make his frined happy. And I beleive that Gene shaking the branch, causing Finny to fall out of the tree was an accident. And Its kind of like Gene is going out of his comfort zone to make this kid ahppy. even if it will make his life misreble, he will do whatever it takes.

2.) Gene keeps taking the blame for what had happened for Finny. And no matter what Finny tells him, Gene keeps blaming himself. Wow. that has such a connection to my life in incredable. But its not about me! ha, sorry. and then my third reason is...

3.)Gene goes threw soo much for this kid. its crazy! he went to the hospitol for him, he doesnt have a room marte anymore because he's waiting for Finny to get back. He stops studying for Finny when Finny wants to go do somthing else not even related to school. Finny is pretty mcuh helping Gene be more of a wild, crazy , outgoing person like himself.
its kind of cool.

:]

three paragraphs

1. One example of loyalty Gene has for Phineas is that he feels that he's become part of him. He wants to do sports for Finny because he don't think that chance will ever come back for him and he wants to make him proud and happy. Gene, probably was a little bit jealous of Finny's skills at sports but to push or shake the limb and make him fall off sounds a bit to harsh. Everyone gets jealous at one point in their life but Gene couldn't hurt his friend to gain the best athlete in the school. Everyone has gotten bad thoughts in their head about hurting someone but doesn't acutally do it. The people that do hurt others really have mental issues. But that's away from the point.

2. Also, Gene stuck up for Phineas even though he wasn't there. Quackenbush was being mean and saying mean things about something Finny wouldn't approve of and being a good and faithful friend that Gene is, he said something to him. Gene comes off to be the follower but more educated one of Phineas and him. Sticking up for someone and knowing that it could come back at you and hurt you is really friendship. Friendship can have lots of different definitions but trust is a big factor when it comes to defining a friend and choosing friends. Gene and Finny have a good bond.

3. Another reason Gene is a good, trustworthy friend is because he didn't want any other roomate than Finny. Even though he knew he might not be coming back he still kept it full. Friends get into fights, not everyone agrees on everything and arguements arn't always that bad, being different and not wanting to be the same same is a good quality, sometimes. Gene was surprised and glad when Finny showed back up at school. They need some more bonding and fun times and a boy like Gene that is good at school and a boy like Finny that's good at sports, other than fighting they can teach each other how to get better at both of those things.

Chapter 6, and three reasons

Chapter 6, was alright. It was a little dull, until the end. So far I have had my ups and downs with Finny, and understanding his personality. One time I will think he is a great friend, and then there is other times where I think he is a little devious. He makes me wonder. Maybe he's pushing Gene to far, and making him feel bad. Towards the end of chapter 6, it said something about Gene being a part of Finny, because of what happened to him. The whole man on campus with Gene, and Finny wanting him to play sports for him. I think that Finny is the dominate friend, and Gene just gets run over by him all the time. But anyway I think Gene is a good friend because;

1.) Gene, would basically do anything for Finny. That's his best friend, he even went off campus with Finny, and broke the rules, to make him happy

2.) Gene also told Finny it was his fault because of when he fell, so Finny woulden't feel like all the pressure was on his shoulder. That's a friend

3.) Gene visted Finny in the hospital, and he cried when the whole accident happened. He felt for Finny. He also didn't even get a room mate, because Finny was always his partner, and he wasted his long distance call for him =p

- Brittany -
Alrighty, chapter six was alittle slow and didn't really get to the point. When is this book going to take a turning point, and please tell me it has already, haha. But anyway, I want to say Gene is a good friend of Phinny's but like Lu, This might not be my final choice, I found Three pieces of evidence that he is a friend.

1.) Gene stuck up for Finny in a way, Something that would of hurt Finny if he was there, Gene took care of my slapping that Quakenbush boy.

2.) Gene told Finny he would of not let anyone else be a roommate with him because Finny is his room mate even thought he's not there.

3,) And Gene would play sports for Finny because he couldn't with a broken leg.

Ok so this chapter was so slow. It dragged for me. I was only able to find two pieces of evidence for my assinement. they support that Gene is a good friend to Finny. However, im not sure that this is the side that I want to take. But here are the two pieces i found.
1.) Gene stuck up for something that would have discriminated Finny
2.) Gene would play sports for Finny because Finny cannot play them any more.

Chapters 3+4

Finny's greatness almost seems too good to be true. I feel like there really couldn't be anyone that has that much ease in what they say and how they play sports. If he were my friend, I'd be jealous no doubt. He's won like six awards and there's more to come. I would feel like I was living in his shadow, no matter how much i matched what he wanted to do. I'm wondering what the narrator's name is, if it's the author or not because I don't remember reading it. Can someone tell me? :] But either way, I don't see how the narrator can stay friends with him, letting him choose everything they do and when they do it. Lack of independence? He does say that when he figured out that Finny was really "plotting against him" that he lost all hope, and everything he relied on. So maybe that push or that thought of Finny not being who the narrator thought he was, really just pushed him to be his own person.
The part about America and the way it was during the war was hard to get through. But the meaning of the paragraph about a person's memory of time is really interesting. Like saying that some significant event will always be what you think of when you look back on life, or when you talk about your life. It makes it seem a lot deeper, and it was enough to get me through that chapter. One word that really stuck out in these two chapters was "naturally." It was said like 10 times. I'm not sure if that is like a hint to the meaning of the book, or to the end of the book. But I'm a little tired of hearing the word. The end of chapter four makes me want to keep reading also. So we'll see what happens next.

-Meri

Chapers 3 & 4

The first two chapters were kind of vauge to me, I didn't really get interested in it, and I had asked a friend for help with some question on it, and he had told me what the questions were asking. I still didn't understnad it. It kind felt rushed, as if I were to already know the information about these two charecters beforhand and then just taking a little bit of their life and keep reading there adventurethat fallowed up to their present lives.. but I have a feeling thats not the case, so I was somewhat lost. Or well compleatly lost. I mean I understand the main point; That this Main Charecter and Finny went to this boys school, way back in the early 1940's. And there kind of hoing back in time to this one summer. But even that is kind of vauge to me. In the Third chapter they kept talking about Soprts and how it all started with the shape of a circle.. Well at least I think thats what thire trying to explain..Then Because of Finny's discoverery of a simple ball makes a sport, Himself, teh Maine Charecter, and some other boys start to make up their own game, called Blitzball. It kind of sounds firmilliar.. but of course this is back when Badminton was a sport in a school. (=D) They made up their rules for this Game that would soon be very popluar at the Devon School. Then somewhere it just jumps to the presidents.. its kind of.. really confusing..Then it jumps to somthing about the War. Wich is yet again very confusing for my little brain to handle..And then it Jumps to breaking the school record. And then I think that there graduating? or somnthing?.. or well getting ready to graduate. Gene gets a little frusterated at Finny, because he doesnt thin he'll be able to graduate, and he really needs his time to study his French stuff, but Finny wants to go watch somthing in a tree? Or somthing not in a tree? Then in some moment, Finny talks to him about Not studying and how he can keep a "c" average.. and then he leavs and Gene fallows, Compleatly ignors his set goal for the night; studying, to go watch somthing "not" jump out of a tree. They both climed up the Tree, and the planwas that they were to jump together, but Finny, lost his blance, fell out of the tree and his the ground. Then Gene and moved out onto the limb and jumped into the river.
* At least I beleive thats what was going on.
Its still somewhat vauge for me.

Chapter 3 & 4

I didn't really like these first four chapters at all, and I hope the book gets better. I mean there were parts that I guess stood out but didn't make me want to keep reading more.. I guess it's the type of book it is, I'm more into Romance and Mystery kind of books. Some of the things Finny said, like "Always say some prayers at night becaase it might turn out that there is a God." (35) Finny sounds like a smart kid but he puts sports infront of school. A lot of kids are actually like this and they do bad in school and then there not able to play sports. I wonder why he doesn't want people knowing about his record break? That really surprises me because he's like a boy with a high ego and he seems like he'd want people to about that.. Finny sounds like a daredevil and The narrortor isn't... I wonder.. They sound like they get into arguements alot.. Do they stay friends for a while? Do they go into the Army together?...

Chapters 3 and 4

So far, this book is slowley taking it's time with me, if that makes any sense? I know it seems very interesting, but there is something about it that makes me more determined to read on. I finally understand the whole "Going back in time" situation now, which saved me some confusion.
I want to agree with Lu on this, it's not boring, but it kind of is dragging me on a bit, here and there. It seems like it is jumping from time to time. There is some non-negative things about this though, this book is like making me actually think. For example; when the phrase " Never say you are five feet nine, when you are five feet eight and a half, or say some type of prayer at night, there might be a god. It sounds weird, but it kind of made me think and stop reading.
Anyway, for the book itself, I think the Boys, are a little immature for their age. The narrator, seems different to me, I havent found out why, but I hope as I read on, I will get to know his personality more, and more about Devon. Other then all of this, I hope this turns out to be a good book.
